Diablo 4 developer Blizzard has revealed a little more about what happens after the game now that it’s spent a few weekends figuring out how fans will play the game and what to expect when it releases. Because of that, we’d expect Diablo 4 to have a pretty meaty, massive post-game that keeps us all playing. Blizzard hopes the game’s Battle Pass will help in some way to achieve that.
At least an hour, as Diablo 4 associate game director Joe Piepiola revealed in a recent interview (thanks PC Gamers) that the game’s battle pass takes “about 80 hours” to complete. There is no doubt that it will be a waste of money. Not only that, but you’ll have to keep playing longer if you want your character to reach max level. .
“Right now, with the Battle Pass, if you’re looking to complete the Season Journey while doing other content in the game, you’re spending about 80 hours worth of time completing the entire Battle Pass. ” said Piepiora. “Getting your character to level 100 may take a little longer, depending on how you play.”
Blizzard has already explained that each season of Diablo 4 lasts about three months, so if you decide to complete each battle pass, you’ll have just over 90 days to spread out the 80 hours. For players, it probably doesn’t matter too much, especially since participating in “Seasonal Journey” gets you there almost naturally. It’s a possibility, so if you want to try Diablo 4’s endgame, you should consider this.
However, Piepiora seems to understand that this level of investment may not be very appealing to many, and that Diablo 4’s post-game isn’t a must for those who simply want to experience the story. We’re emphasizing that you can easily return to the game with each new expansion or batch of story content released. Piepiora explains that Blizzard has confirmed that grinding in Endgame isn’t “the only way to play Diablo 4.”
As for when we can sink our teeth into that story, Diablo 4 is set to launch on June 6th later this year. It will be available on nearly every platform, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
