If you’ve been a regular user of a PlayStation console at any point in the last decade, you’ve probably had a mild panic attack after seeing a few emails thanking you for a purchase you don’t remember. depended on it. This is a universal experience for most PlayStation fans who have redeemed PS Plus giveaways whenever they become available for download.
Not everyone checks their email every day, so when they get a message from PlayStation thanking them for their purchase, they quickly jump to the worst possible conclusion. The platform has been doing this for years and has contributed significantly to fanbase pleas begging PlayStation to stop sending emails about PS Plus downloads. It looks like PlayStation has finally listened, as many fans are noticing they haven’t received a series of emails since then.
A Reddit thread in the PlayStation Plus subreddit, first pointed out by PlayStation Lifestyle (thanks to VGC), states that after downloading either Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Meet Your Maker, or Tails of Iron, you receive an email. It’s full of users who have found that it doesn’t. Some even claim they haven’t received the email after downloading a title recently added to the PlayStation catalog.
I say “suggest” because I haven’t heard anything from Sony or PlayStation about this change. There may be something wrong with our automated email system that hasn’t been found or fixed yet, but when you try to download free PS Plus games now, you won’t receive an email. I just downloaded the PS Plus game of the month myself to do so, but I can also confirm that I haven’t received an email yet at the time of writing.
We’ll have to see if PS Plus emails eventually stop working completely. If the same happens with his PS Plus giveaway batch in May, I think we can safely say that PlayStation has finally seen a reason.
In other PlayStation news, it was recently announced that the Final Fantasy 16-focused PlayStation State of Play showcase will take place tomorrow. We rarely see other announcements not related to Final Fantasy. For those interested, the show starts at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST.
