While most weapons in Fortnite have been nerfed and buffed many times over the years, grenades have not. Five years on, Fortnite grenades still do the same amount of damage to players and buildings as they did before. That is until now, when Epic rolled out its first nerf in half a year.
For 5 years, grenades have dealt 100 damage on direct hits. In fact, it’s a bit of a miracle, but it’s the first time Epic has addressed the issue since his 2018. Now, even the most accurate grenade hits only do 40 damage, so you don’t need to rely on grenades as much as you used to.
Destroying buildings with them will also no longer be easy. The nerf to building damage is even bigger. Previously, grenades did 375 damage to buildings on impact. That impressive figure has now dwindled to as low as 75. Good news for those who like to hide in towering structures that can be erected in seconds.
Grenade throwers aren’t the only ones taking a big hit from the latest round of nerfs. Heavy Sniper damage to buildings has also been significantly reduced, as far as I can tell from Fortnite dataminers. hypex and iFireMonkeyheavy-duty guns pack the same amount of punch when used against rival players.
Previously Mythic to Rare would deal 690, 660, 630, and 600 damage to buildings depending on the weapon’s level, while the Heavy Sniper deals 173, 165, 173, 165, 158, 150 only. . Again, the descending numbers correspond to the level of Sniper you are using.
If you rely heavily on grenades and snipers, all of the above may be infuriating you right now. If not, you might be able to rest a little easier if you’re cooped up somewhere on Fortnite’s island. His two weapons now deal less damage to buildings on direct hits, so even those who love these weapons will use them a lot less.
Fortnite grenades and snipers aren’t the first weapons to receive newsworthy downgrades as of 2023. Not long ago, the Mythic Shotgun was very powerful and could kill a player with a well-placed shot. A nerf shortly after it was added fixed this, but it’s still a very powerful feature.
