Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ended up saving a very boring showcase PlayStation Showcase for many, offering a first look at gameplay and a few surprises along the way. One of the biggest events was the reveal that Peter Parker is wearing a symbiote suit for this adventure, which makes Venom feel more connected to the main story than we expected. Indicates that they may be closely related.
We know Venom will appear in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in some form, but his true identity remains a mystery. With Venom appearing in multiple alter egos in all of Spider-Man’s media, there’s no guarantee that Eddie Brock is behind this big grin. Due to this mystery, there is still speculation as to who Venom really is, and after seeing this latest trailer, quite a few Spider-Man fans believe that Peter Parker himself could turn evil.
Two pieces of evidence have been put forward for this theory, the first of which is included in the trailer itself. Towards the end of the gunship fight scene, Peter Parker’s eyes squint when he says the slightly corny “me too” line after Miles tells the Lizard that he has “big teeth”. Some fans have noticed that it has changed and become sharper. This shape bears a slight resemblance to Venom’s eyes, which many believe may be a small hint of Peter’s change later in the game.
The second is in the Ultimate Comics series, where Peter Parker transforms into Venom and nearly loses control and kills people. It has nothing to do with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it sets a precedent that even Peter Parker can transform into a giant monster if exposed to this symbiote for too long, and some fans Some think the Insomniac is making fun of Peter vs. Peter’s fight. And in Miles, the latter must forcibly remove the symbiote to retrieve Peter.
Of course, these are just fan theories, and the slow-moving giant Venom we saw in the game’s first trailer could simply be either Eddie Brock or Harry Osborn if Peter actually ditched the symbiote. There is a nature. But it’s an exciting proposition, and one that’s not too improbable considering the powers we saw Peter use in today’s trailer. Unfortunately, we won’t know for a while if the theory is correct, but at least we’ll just have to wait until this fall.
