Star Wars is one of the biggest and most famous media series of all time. There are movies, TV shows, streaming services, novels, cartoons, and video games. It all started with movies, but Star Wars games have been around for almost as long. The earliest was released in his late 70’s and fans are still getting games based on the series.
The quality varies widely, from terrible to incredible. The latter group deserves the most attention. But we can’t list all the great Star Wars games at once. We can only focus on the absolute best, namely:
9 Star Wars: Force Unleashed
In The Force Unleashed, you put yourself in the shoes of Darth Vader’s up-and-coming apprentice, Starkiller. Following his master’s orders, he travels the galaxy to rid the world of any remaining Jedi. This therefore serves as a bridge between the first of his two film trilogies.
The story is also compelling, but it’s the combat that really sets this title apart. Force Unleashed makes you feel like an incredibly powerful Force user, perhaps more than any other Star Wars game.
8 Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
The Jedi Knight series portrays Kyle Katarn, one of the greatest Star Wars video game characters. In Jedi Outcast, he is a former Jedi turned mercenary working for the New Republic. However, he must return to the paths of the Jedi in order to have any chance of fulfilling his mission.
Both Kyle’s mercenary and Jedi methods are featured in combat, as he can use firearms and lightsabers. There are also some force powers that can be used against enemies. But the most interesting thing is that you can choose to play in first person or third person perspective.
7 Star wars: Republic commando
The main movies are mostly about Jedi and Sith Lords. Clone troopers also make some appearances, but are essentially background characters. But they get their time to shine with the Republic Commandos. Specifically, a special operations team known as Delta Squad has its glorious moments as they carry out various missions.
This game is a tactical FPS where you play as the leader of your team and give orders to your crew. But you are not a silent leader. You too are in the thick of battle.
6 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Jedi: Fallen Order follows the young Jedi Cal Kestis, who has been in hiding for years and finds himself once again drawn into the conflict between the Jedi and the Sith. It’s a post-Order 66 world, and the Jedi are cornered. As such, Cal must survive battles with Stormtroopers and Inquisitors in an attempt to help the remnants of the Jedi Order.
It creates an engaging narrative filled with strong vocal performances. Gameplay is similarly solid, with combat, climbing, and puzzle-solving all being a lot of fun.
Five LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
There are a lot of great Lego games out there, and a lot of great Star Wars games out there. Best of both categories is the fantastic LEGO Star Wars game. The Skywalker Saga is a deep retelling of the movie’s main trilogy and the largest of them all.
While playing, you control all kinds of characters from the series. Princess Leia is not a combatant similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi, so some people play her very differently than other players. No matter who you control, you can enjoy it from a third-person perspective.
Four Star wars: Battlefront 2
The 2005 Battlefront 2 campaign lets you experience some of the key battles of the Star Wars universe. And it’s all told from the perspective of a clone trooper. However, the story is not the aspect of the game that people love. After all, Battlefront 2 earned its fame for its great multiplayer.
In each match, rival factions are paired with each other. You can choose your class regardless of which team you are on. Your goal is to beat the other team no matter what game he’s playing. In some cases, you’ll also have the opportunity to play as a faction hero, such as Han Solo or Darth Vader, who has always been one of the main characters in the series.
3 Star wars: Old Republic
The Old Republic is an MMORPG set in the Star Wars universe. The exact story depends on which class you play. Not only do you choose your character’s class, you also choose your faction between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. But your choices don’t bind you to good or bad. Morality is more ambiguous in this title than in most Star Wars media.
Like the story, combat also varies by class. You can choose a character who prefers using the Force, lightsaber, or blaster. When you’re not fighting, you’re making choices and exploring.
2 Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Jedi: Survivor takes place several years after the Fallen Order and features the more experienced Cal Kestis. However, he is still the underdog in his mission to damage the all-powerful empire. During the course of your adventure, you’ll meet all sorts of wild and wonderful characters that add to the overall experience.
Besides meeting new friends, you’ll also solve lots of clever puzzles and do a fair amount of climbing. But most importantly, take part in exciting battles against different types of enemies.
1 Star wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Knights Of The Old Republic boasts one of the greatest stories in Star Wars history. In it, a Sith Lord known as Darth Malak is causing serious trouble for the Galactic Empire. One of the few who can take him on is the amnesiac protagonist, piecing together his own past in the process.
Along the way, you will meet different people and make different decisions. Some choices have short-term consequences, but some choices have a huge impact on who you are. Sometimes things get violent and you have to fight enemies in a unique format of turn-based combat. Admittedly, combat isn’t as enduring as exceptional storytelling and scripting.
